Recently I got to photograph the talented musician and singer, Sophia Marie Humbert of Anthem, Arizona. We did the photo shoot at the very cool Janey’s Coffeeshop in Cave Creek for this month’s issue of ImagesAZ magazine.
It all started when I went to my daughter’s “Night of the Arts” at her school, Gavilan Peak. An amazing night that the school put on for the kids celebrating their artwork and music by the band. There was also this beautiful voice singing in my daughter’s art class when we walked in. A young girl named Sophia Humbert was playing the guitar and singing her heart out for everyone to hear. Well, she blew me away with her voice and I happened to be sitting right by her parents. Of course, one thing leads to another and next thing I know, I’m photographing her for a story in ImagesAZ magazine.
My mind is going in twenty different directions on what type of portraits we should do for her story. It works out perfectly when I go to meet up with her at at Janey’s coffee shop in Cave Creek to hear her sing to a morning crowd enjoying their coffee and drinks. I just fell in love with Janey’s and they were kind enough to let us in the following week to do her photography in the rustic and very cool Janey’s. I fell in love with all the textures and the great story we could tell with Sophia sitting in one of the coffee shops that she plays in around the North Phoenix, Anthem and Cave Creek areas. Afterwards, we went to my portrait studio to get some additional creative photos of her and her guitar. I love working with other Artist’s and doing their portraits because they are willing to go deep and get some interesting and provoking portraits. Here are just a few of the editorial portraits we got for ImagesAZ magazine this month. You can see more of the photography we shot and read her story along with upcoming shows in the article in ImagesAZ magazine.
It was truly a joy to capture this young and inspirational Artist, good luck Sophia!
